Emerald Resort and Casino takes pride in delivering a great guest experience and we have been working hard behind the scenes to create environments where team members and guests can feel comfortable and enjoy themselves.

We are pleased to announce that the Casino is now open, operating daily from 8am until 11:30pm. We look forward to opening the rest of our Resort once we receive an update from the South African Government regarding leisure offerings.

Your safety remains our priority and we have put every measure in place to welcome you back. If you have any questions when you visit, please just ask one of our team members who will be more than happy to help.

HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS

For the well-being of our customers and team members, team members have been trained on cleaning and disinfectant techniques, including use of PPE and protocols for all surfaces. All team members undertake temperature checks and complete a screen questionnaire at the start and end of each shift.

Hand sanitiser stations are provided at check-in, table games, cash desk, reception areas and other transaction points.

All areas of our casinos are subject to an enhanced cleaning routine. Members of the cleaning team are on duty at all times and high-touch areas regularly cleaned.

Recommended social distancing guidelines have been implemented in the casino and the presence of hand sanitiser stations introduced throughout. Casino floors, restaurants and other seated venues have reduced their capacities to allow for appropriate social distancing. Team members will be on hand to help at all times.

Entering our Casinos

Access onto the Casino floor will be restricted to 50% of the floor space, and will be constantly monitored ensuring adherence.

Entry to the casino will be one at a time as we manage the number of people in our casino at any one time. Queue markers are being used to maintain a safe social distance.

All employees and guests are required to wear masks and will not be allowed entry without a mask

Temperature screening and screening questionnaires will be in place at all entry points.

SLOTS MACHINES

Only Rewards cardholders will be allowed to play any Slots or Tables Games.

Every second Slot machines has been turned off, supporting and encouraging appropriate social distancing.

Machines will be cleaned and disinfected regularly, and hand sanitisation stations are available on the gaming floor.

TABLE GAMES

Player occupancy limits are being implemented on tables and playing positions spaced to meet social distancing requirements.

  • Two players per Blackjack and Poker Tables
  • Three players per Baccarat and Roulette tables.
  • Guests will not be able to congregate behind players at a gaming table.
  • Tables and seating will be cleaned and disinfected regularly.
  • Hand sanitising stations are available.
  • Chips will be routinely disinfected, and cards will be refreshed regularly.
  • Dealers will wear masks and we encourage customers to do the same.

CASH DESK AND GAMING RECEPTION DESKS

  • Social distancing measures are in place and hand sanitiser is available to customers using these areas.
  • Chips that are exchanged at the Cash Desk will be sanitised by team members prior to being put back in circulation.
  • Card payment devices as well as signature pads with pens will be cleaned and disinfected after each use.

To maintain hygiene for your health and safety and that of our team members, we have implemented the following protocols.

  • Team members and managers will manage physical distancing at entries, waiting areas and queues.
  • Bar stools will be reduced, and tables and booths will be spaced to ensure appropriate distancing between guests.
  • All self-help stations will have sanitizers available for cleaning after each use.
  • Hand sanitiser is provided at entrances, which customers are encouraged to use upon arrival.
  • Table configurations have been adjusted to allow for appropriate social distancing.
  • High touch items are cleaned and disinfected between customers.
  • Menus are available as single use copies.
  • Party sizes will not exceed limits set by applicable Government or Public Health authorities.
  • Table-side food preparation and the placement of napkins on guests' laps will be suspended.
  • Tables will only be set up when in use and single use condiments will be available.

Accommodation

Accommodation Hygiene

Individuals are required to sanitise their hands at entrances, check-in counters and before entering our vehicles. We have also implemented the following hygiene protocols to ensure the safety of our guests and team members.

Check-in counters

Physical barriers are installed at reception desks and receptionists are wearing masks. Frequently touched objects, such as pens, will be sanitised after each use.

Luggage

Team members will not handle guest luggage. However, should you need help, the team member will first sanitise their hands and your luggage and will keep a 1.5-meter distance.

Non-essential items

We have removed non-essential decorative items to reduce surfaces. Irons, ironing boards, blankets and vanity kits will be available from reception upon request.

Rooms

  • No Turndown service will be available.
  • For long staying guest, linen changes and housekeeping will take place when guests depart or every three days only upon request.
  • No team members will be allowed in an occupied room unless requested by a guest.
  • In Room dining menus will be for single use only.
  • All surfaces, including phones, remote controls, kettles, etc., will be disinfected.
  • Hand sanitiser with 75% alcohol is added to our range of guest amenities for guest use during their stay.
  • Room keys and room access cards will be wiped and sanitised after every check out and before every check in.
  • Soiled linen and towels from room changes will be removed with care.
  • Physical-distancing stickers are in place at all check-in desks.
  • Outdoor Pool capacity is limited, and the number of loungers at pool areas reduced to encourage social distancing.
  • Our check-out and check-in times may be amended to ensure housekeeping has sufficient time to thoroughly deep clean rooms.

Hotel breakfast

  • Our Hotel breakfast offering is changed to increase hygiene and cater for social distancing in the kitchen and the restaurant.
  • Hot beverages will be provided by service team members.

Our Game drives are officially operational to the public

Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays only.

No groups.

Game drives will be subject to the weather.

  1. Operating times:
    Between 9am and 4pm, last drive leaves at 4pm. Currently no Sundowner drive available.
    Game drives are 45 minutes each and leave every hour on the hour.

  2. Pick-Up point:
  • Game Drive pick-ups will be at the side gate on the Game Park (where we usually go in for Game Park events).
  • Guests will park on the overflow parking on the open area opposite the road (we have arranged for signage to show you where to park and where the pick-up point is).
  • A signboard will go up at the gate showing operating times, rates, booking details etc.
  • The steps will be placed outside the gate to ease embarking and disembarking.
