Aaron Mokoena foundation

The Aaron Mokoena Foundation established by Aaron Mokoena, is to be launched as a registered charity by Aaron in South Africa and in the UK in 2009. Aaron is the youngest ever capped player for South Africa and is currently playing for English FA Premier League Club Blackburn Rovers FC.

The inspiration for the Foundation is Aaron's desire to replicate and improve opportunities for children and young people to access high quality football experiences in South Africa. Underpinning the Foundation's ethos is an understanding of the role football can play not only creating and improving the skills and performance of young players but also the key role football can play as an mechanism that plays a uniquely broader role in society by bringing communities together.

In the penultimate year in which South Africa hosts the 2010 World Cup, the Foundation will seek to work in partnership with broad range of organisations to shape, design and deliver a range of safe, stimulating and exciting opportunities targeting young people. Our challenge will be to build on the momentum of the event to create a lasting legacy which can propel South African football to new heights.

We plan to consult with a wide range of key stakeholders from a variety of fields so as to gain an understanding in regards to the level of interest, participation, partnership opportunities as to the identified key areas of need. We are keen to listen and learn using the information gleaned to feed and underpin the strategic planning process.

The long-term aim of the Foundation is to develop, design and manage a range of projects that are aligned to its organisational vision and mission. The Foundation will be innovative, modern and responsive breaking new barriers in services delivery, establishing high quality delivery standards whilst defining measurable outputs and deliverables.

Relay For life Cansa Vaal Event

The Emerald Foundation decided to take part in the Cansa Relay for life event and sponsored 2 teams from Emerald Resort & Casino ; this included the registration fee, the team T-shirts and Banners.

The Cansa Relay for life this year happens on the 9 - 10th of October 2009 at Afrikaans Hoer Sasolburg. The event starts at 5:30 and finish at 07:00 Saturday morning 10th October. If you decide to sponsor us, please send some Marketing material with your product. We want to incorporate it with the Emerald Resort & Casino stand to show that both ABI and Emerald wants to give back to the community.

All sponsored items will be sold at the event and all profits will go to Relay for life, Cansa Vaal.
